Connect scoops national award for engagement at party conferences

Connect Communications has won the prestigious Party Conference Fringe Event of the Year at the Public Affairs Awards 2016 for the Fraud Fringe.

The Fraud Fringe brought together seven of the UK’s leading organisations who are committed to tackling fraud, to discuss data sharing, protecting vulnerable consumers and raising awareness of fraud and scams.

Connect designed a pitch-style format where each participating organisation put forward their ideas to Ministers, Shadow Ministers, MPs, key stakeholders and party members in under three minutes. This created a quick paced dynamic, generating interest and interaction from delegates.

21 policy pitches were made across 3 party conferences, highlighting problems and potential solutions to combat fraud. A wide range of MPs from all parties were engaged directly in the events as participants, and others attended and networked or spoke from the audience. Hundreds of delegates were informed about key issues and encouraged to take action within their own organisations, which ranged from local councils to community organisations, national charities and major businesses.

The Fraud Fringe partners are Cifas, Age UK, the BBA, the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, the Federation of Communication Services, Financial Fraud Action UK and the Insurance Fraud Bureau
