Ahead of National Apprenticeships Week this week, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Apprenticeships, for which Connect provides the secretariat, launched the results of the second annual Industry Apprentice Council (IAC) survey of industry apprentices, which made for worrying reading.
The manifesto of the All Party Parliamentary Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire Group – Devolution for Prosperity – was launched in the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday. Connect has been proud to provide the secretariat to the group for over two years, and we’re delighted to have supported the group to produce and launch the manifesto.
The Water Bill is expected to complete its passage through Parliament this week after a remarkably smooth journey. Despite constituting the single biggest reform of the water industry since privatisation 25 years ago, the only strong point of contention has been the absence of a clause allowing existing companies to exit the new retail market. Now, following the Government’s decision at Report Stage to include retail exit, even this potential hurdle has fallen.
